About The Position

The Pool Operator is responsible for knowing, abiding by, and enforcing all guidelines of the Aquatic Department as well as the Association. This role involves completing all necessary documentation during shifts, including hourly readings of sanitizer, pH, water and air temperature, rate of flow, pressure differential, facility usage, filling out manager logs for appropriate shifts, and submitting accident and/or incident reports. The Pool Operator is also responsible for maintaining the facility at an inspection-ready status in accordance with state and county commercial pool operation regulations during their shift. They will supervise the delivery of equipment and chemicals if it occurs on their assigned shift. Ensuring excellent public relations with YMCA members, department staff, and other branch employees is also a key aspect of the job. Furthermore, the Pool Operator is responsible for ensuring the entire Department is secure, according to written guidelines, when the branch closes at night, and for maintaining the health and safety of members and their guests during their shift. Other duties may be required.

Requirements

• Must be 17 years of age
• Must have at least 500 hours of experience
• Must meet essential functions of Lifeguard
• Current life guarding certifications
• CPR and First Aid completion cards
• Valid pool operator’s license for facility’s jurisdiction
• Must certify through YMCA as Lifeguard within six months if card is not YMCA

Responsibilities

• Maintaining the facility at inspection ready status per state and county commercial pool operation regulations during shift.
• Supervising delivery of equipment and chemicals if occurring on assigned shift.
• Ensuring excellent public relations with members of the YMCA, department staff and other branch employees.
• Ensuring that the Department in its entirety is secure, according to written guidelines when the branch closes at night.
• Ensuring that the health and safety of members and their guests is properly maintained during their shift.
• Performing other duties as required.
