The centerpiece of Killens Pond State Park, conveniently located in central Delaware, is the 66-acre millpond, which was established in the late 1700s. Before the pond was created, the Murderkill River and surrounding hardwood forest were sites of several Native American homes and hunting camps. Killens Pond became a state park in 1965. Pool Monitor ( $15.00) - Applicants must possess current CPR and First Aid Certification, OR the applicant must agree as a requirement of employment to possess one prior to first day on the job. 2. Lifeguard ($16.25) - Candidates must possess a valid Lifeguard Certification OR the applicant must agree as a requirement of employment to possess one prior to first day on the job. The seasonal Waterpark Lifeguard/Pool Monitors are responsible for maintaining public relations and order in and around pool area. They enforce rules and regulations pertaining to pool and swimming activities. The incumbents inspect the condition of all rescue equipment including buoys, floats, ropes, medical supplies, and other safety equipment. Incumbents may also handle minor maintenance and custodial duties. Work is performed indoors and outdoors, weekends, evenings and holidays as scheduled to meet facility needs. Provide safe water-based recreation for park. Maintain constant watch over assigned pool area to prevent accidents. Warn swimmers of hazards. Maintain the water park area, to include trash and litter removal, and restroom cleaning. Perform appropriate rescue and medical services as required. Must be able to work independently.
