About The Position

This RPSGT position is 36 hours -3 12's 6p-6:30am. Every third weekend -Saturdays only. Location will be at Main PHL campus and also will be required to go to satellites- KOP and Newtown Square. 1 year of expereince is required The Polysomnography Technologist- RPSGT carries out all technical duties for the Sleep Center under the supervision of the medical director or designee to provide comprehensive evaluation of sleep disorders. This may involve polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services, research, or patient care and education. The Polysomnographic Technologist effectively troubleshoots difficult technical problems and demonstrates the ability to use critical thinking skills for problem solving. In addition to demonstrating clinical leadership, the Polysomnography Technologist serves as a resource and consultant to staff and participates in endeavors to increase polysomnography knowledge.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED Required
  • At least one (1) year experience Required
  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) (Pennsylvania) - Board of Registered Polysomnograhic Technologists - upon hire - Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - issued through on organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross). - upon hire - Required

Nice To Haves

  • Technical Diploma Polysomnography, Respiratory Therapy or EEG Program Preferred
  • Associate's Degree Preferred
  • At least two (2) years Polysomnography Technology or Respiratory Therapy experience Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Practice: Provides expert care using intuitive, reasoning and experience.
  • Prepares and calibrates equipment required for testing to determine proper functioning and makes adjustments, if necessary, including applying electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards, and performing appropriate physiologic calibrations (when age and cognitive function appropriate) ensuring proper signals and making adjustments, if necessary.
  • Documents routine observations, changes in procedure and significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results.
  • Follows procedural protocols (such as PAP titration, oxygen titration, research protocols etc.) ensuring collection of appropriate data.
  • Professionalism/Leadership: Establishes professional practice standards and process improvement projects.
  • Research: Incorporates research into clinical practice and participates in scientific inquiry.
  • Learning Orientation: Acts as a consultant to enhance professional development.
  • Examines successes and failures to improve performance.
  • Maintains a blame free environment.
  • Participates in identifying and meeting own learning needs.
  • Completes ten Continuing Education Credits (10) as approved by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) per calendar year.
  • Participates in continuing educational opportunities at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
  • Resource Management: Is able to teach others the appropriate utilization of financial resources and makes recommendations.
