About The Position

This position will primarily be responsible for serving as the Lead worker for the policy group, assisting with directing and supporting one HR Technician II, one permanent Administrative Associate II, and two HR Consultant IIs. The position will assist with managing the Policy Administration Section and File Room Operations. This involves assisting with planning, coordinating, and establishing policies and procedures and work priorities and deadlines. The position will be responsible for consulting and collaborating with DOT managers and employees within the agency in interpreting and applying personnel and departmental policies in complex, sensitive, or new situations. It also assists with training within the agency as it pertains to subject matter specific to Policy and Laws. This position will also work collaboratively with the Benefits Administration group and may periodically work with the group to resolve issues and ensure customer support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, typically in Human Resources or related field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience
  • High School or GED and 5 years of progressively responsible human resources experience
  • Equivalent combination of training and experience

Nice To Haves

  • Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of human resources management
  • Knowledge of the interpretation and application of federal laws and State HR laws, policies, and practices governing HR
  • Experience exercising good judgment in analyzing human resource situations and making recommendations and/or decisions within delegated level of authority
  • Considerable knowledge and understanding of the Leave Administration Policies pertaining to Family Medical Leave, Short- and Long-Term Disability, Voluntary Shared Leave, Dual Employment, Military Leave, etc.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the payroll process and demonstrated ability to process personnel and time related actions using HRIS system
