The Team You’ll Work With: The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services is responsible for ensuring that agencies that oversee the City’s social services are run compassionately, equitably, and effectively, and that the City’s public health and healthcare delivery systems deliver results for all New Yorkers. With a portfolio that amounts to approximately $22 billion, the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services, under the leadership of Deputy Mayor Helen Arteaga, is focused on implementing bold efforts within and across City agencies and the Mayor’s Offices. Agencies and Mayor’s Offices reporting to the Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services include: NYC Health + Hospitals, Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Office of Chief Medical Examiner, Department of Social Services (Human Resources Administration and Department of Homeless Services), Administration for Children’s Services, NYC Aging/Department for the Aging, Department of Youth and Community Services, Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence, Department of Veterans’ Services, Office of Community Mental Health, Office for People with Disabilities, Office of Food Policy, and Center for Innovation through Data Intelligence. The Problems You’ll Solve: Reporting to a team of Advisors on the Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services’ team, the Policy Analyst will provide project management, analytical, research, and administrative support for the team. This role will liaise with Advisors on the team and complete special projects. This position will require project management support related to policy initiatives, as well as administrative work, including scheduling for team members and general organizational work. Tasks may include interacting with Advisors and staff from agencies in the Health and Human Services’ portfolio to track relevant implementation plans and program needs; reviewing relevant data, studies, and reports produced by subject-matter experts and summarizing for an executive-level audience; producing background and position memos and fact sheets to support executive decision-making; and drafting talking points and public-facing materials. This position will focus on supporting programs and initiatives in the portfolio around older adults, youth and young adults, people with disabilities, and other specialized populations.
