The University Police Department at North Carolina State University is responsible for providing the most reasonable level of safety and security for the protection of life and property of students, faculty, staff and visitors of the campus community. Being a full sized police department, the department functions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, year round with sworn officers, non-sworn full-time employees and part-time employees. The Event Planning and Risk Management Coordinator serves as the primary consultant on law enforcement and public safety matters related to events planned within the Police Department's jurisdiction. This position plays a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient execution of campus and community events by conducting risk assessments, developing operational plans, and coordinating police staffing and response activities. The coordinator collaborates closely with internal university partners and external agencies to ensure compliance with best practices and national standards, including NFPA and FEMA guidelines. This role also leads large-scale emergency response exercises, oversees the department's Incident Command System (ICS) functions, and ensures ongoing compliance with ICS/NIMS training and critical incident protocols.
