The PAT and written exam is scheduled for Friday, November 21, 2025. Information for the PAT and a study guide for the written test can be found at https://www.tuscaloosa.com/government/work-with-us/hiring-procedures/police-officer. If you meet the minimum qualifications and your application is accepted, you will receive an email with the time, date, and location for the PAT and written exam. The PAT will be given in the morning and the written exam in the afternoon. A complete application is required in order to participate in the PAT and sit for the written exam. You must pass the PAT in the morning to be able to take the written test in the afternoon. The job will remain posted until closing date OR until a maximum number of applications have been received. You will be mailed or emailed more information regarding the PAT and written exam after the job closes for receipt of applications and afteracceptance of your application. This is the first step in the selection process that establishes/updates the hiring list. The purpose of this classification is to prepare for the duties of a sworn City of Tuscaloosa Police Patrol Officer by attending required department training and participating in and assisting sworn City of Tuscaloosa Police Patrol Officers with various aspects of police operations.
