About The Position

The City of Thibodaux is accepting online applications for Police Officer positions. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and pass a series of Civil Service Examinations to be eligible for consideration. For further requirements, please review the job description for Police Officer at the City of Thibodaux's website either at the Civil Service Department page or the Human Resource Department page. The deadline for applications to be submitted is Monday, May 4, 2026 @12:00 (noon). Any application received after the deadline will not be accepted. The written test is scheduled for Thursday, May 7, 2026, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the Recreation Building at Peltier Park. The Recreation Building is located at 151 Peltier Park Drive, Thibodaux, LA. The physical agility and oral board examinations dates will be announced to applicants on the date of the written test. The physical agility test is based on either the Cooper Standards for Law Enforcement or an obstacle course designed by the Police Department. The purpose of this position is to protect lives, property and the rights of all citizens, enforce laws, reduce criminal activity, and identify and apprehend offenders and generally maintain public order. This is accomplished by patrolling an assigned area on foot, by car, or other mode of transportation to preserve order and enforce laws; investigating break-ins, thefts, major crimes and other situations; preparing detailed records and reports, and completing accident reports; making arrests as warranted; presenting testimony in court; coordinating and meeting with other officers and supervisors to combine efforts to address police issues in assigned area; receiving and answering complaints and requests for service from citizens; providing information or assistance; and investigating according to policies and procedures. Other duties include maintaining files and records; organizing neighborhood events; participating in educational meetings; conducting special projects and mandatory annual certifications.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be at least 21 years of age

  • A valid Louisiana driver's license is required to be eligible for consideration
