About The Position

Receives incoming calls for police and security services, dispatches officers as appropriate, and monitors police radio alarms. Documents police and security service requests in an electronic records management and dispatch system. Operates National Crime Information Center (NCIC) console, a computer aided mobile dispatch system, and Zetron interoperable radio console. See the Position Description for additional information.

Requirements

Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
Must successfully complete State of New Mexico Public Safety Department Telecommunicator Academy within 12 months of date of hire.
Must successfully complete all internal police dispatch and related training.
Must possess a valid typing test certificate issued by a state agency, county agency, or an accredited educational institution with a minimum score of forty (40) net words per minute (WPM). The typing test must have occurred within the last 12 months.
Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
High School Diploma or GED; no previous experience required.
