As a Make Ready Fielder/Pole Surveyor, you will conduct field assessments, surveys, and make-ready evaluations for utility pole attachments and network expansions. In addition, you will: OSP Fielder will complete site visits within the given market Take legible field notes for the design of construction drawings in aerial, buried, underground, and building applications Analyze work site and design requests, then determine scope of work to be completed Deliver projects within timeline and ensure quality of work completed Collaborate with the in-house MRE Engineering Team to implement quality assurance practices, in order to maintain consistent production quality throughout the project Interact with internal and external customers, and represent Byers/MasTec and our client in a professional manner Follow very specific and detailed procedures already implemented, while remaining flexible enough to readily adapt to changing standards and procedures without notice Adhere to all company safety practices and policies

Requirements

  • Understanding of Telecom, Fiber, and Outside Plant required
  • Relevant experience with utilities, cabling, or construction is also considered
  • Excellent communication for daily interaction with various teams
  • Above-average penmanship for hand-drawn field notes
  • Knowledge of computer programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Dropbox)
  • You are detail-oriented, experienced in identifying conflicts, documenting conditions, and recommending solutions to ensure compliance with industry standards and client requirements
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • You have a valid driver’s license, a non-negligent driving record, and a reliable transportation required
  • Willing to be trained and adapt to changing industry trends; continue education for Engineering design and best practices
  • Must be local as this role requires outdoor site visits in various weather conditions
  • Be open to being on the field location in Central and South New Jersey
  • Dress appropriately and meet safety standards while on-site

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of engineering tools, including AutoCAD, PRS, OCalc, 3-GIS, or any similar GIS/KMZ platforms
  • General understanding of joint use agreements and joint use management software such as NJUNS, SPAN, ALDEN ONE, etc.
  • High school diploma and completed courses from technical school or community college preferred, but not required
