About The Position

Answer telephone calls relating to known or suspected poisonings and then advise on treatment and /or triage of patient to appropriate level of care. Also participate in data collection/reporting efforts, public education programs, and research efforts.

Requirements

  • Must be familiar with basic aspects of pharmacology, toxicology, and clinical patient management.
  • Possess good organizational skills
  • Familiar with computer data entry and retrieval.
  • Must be able to assess severity of exposures and placate victims and families.
  • Must be able to educate, prioritize, triage and communicate effectively with general public and health care professionals.
  • Licensure to practice nursing, pharmacy, medicine, or physician's assistant in the State of Florida.
  • 1-2 years clinical experience
  • Sit for and pass the AAPCC specialist in poison information certification exam as soon as eligibility requirements are met. After three unsuccessful attempts, it will be grounds for termination.

Nice To Haves

  • Emergency Department or Critical Care experience preferred
