Requirements

  • Certification by one of the following mechanisms is required: (ASCP) categoricalist certification or certification equivalent to ASCP in academic and clinical requirements.
  • MT(ASCP) or CT(ASCP) whichever is appropriate.
  • A BS or BA degree and course requirements currently specified for the MT(ASCP) or the CT(ASCP), whichever is appropriate.
  • A minimum of four years’ experience or an MS with 3 years of experience. Consistently superior performance evaluations are required.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialist certification desired.

Responsibilities

  • The POCC is under the direction of the Manager for administrative matters and the Medical Director assigned to the section for medical matters.
  • Collaborates with KPN management and KHN technical and POC teams.
  • Validates devices according to KHN policies/procedures, writes procedures within regulatory standards, and works collaboratively with clinical staff.
  • Trains/competencies clinical staff in Point of Care testing and maintains compliance.
  • Maintains accreditation standards, quality control and inventory.
  • Maintains section in accordance with the goals and policies of the department and the institution.
  • Serves as inspector for CAP.
