About The Position

The Plumbing Field Manager utilizes their knowledge and experience in the trade along with management skills to coordinate internal team members and external clients to deliver a professionally completed, high-quality plumbing product within the constraints of time and budget. This position may involve hands-on work in the trade.

Requirements

  • High school graduate/GED with an appropriate 4-year apprenticeship certificate.
  • A minimum of 4 years of field experience.
  • Plumbing Journeyman or Master plumbing license required.
  • Working knowledge of all relevant national and local codes and company and industry standards.
  • Must possess and maintain licenses required in the jurisdictions where you are working.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills and experience required.
  • Proven abilities in pipefitting, plumbing and/or sheet metal, service, or system functionality experience required.
  • Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise trade-specific crew leaders, journeymen, and apprentices.
  • Coordinate with Project Manager on project needs as required.
  • Communicate project status, changes, and needs to the Project Manager.
  • Lead and train crews in planning, layout, material management, reading and interpreting technical project information, and in their specific craft.
  • Take-off, order, and schedule delivery of materials.
  • Pre-plan job requirements with the project manager, general superintendent, purchasing, fabrication shop, and construction supervisor.
  • Read and understand blueprints, CAD drawings, isometrics, equipment specifications, job specifications, equipment submittals, schedules, and other construction and equipment-related information.
  • Continually collaborate with CAD department until final coordination drawings are complete.
  • Responsible, with all team members, for ensuring that the project is kept within budget and on time.
  • Understand and know how to read variance reports to manage the project budget.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and organized work site.
  • Participate in hands-on completion of piping and sheet metal assignments whenever possible.
  • Maintain current understanding and knowledge of building codes and regulations governing inspections and construction practices.
  • Coordinate inspections.
  • Develop a final turnover package for the client and their maintenance staff, including training where necessary.
  • Keep and maintain updated as-builts.
