About The Position

A Plumbing Estimator in the commercial and industrial sectors is responsible for analyzing project specifications, interpreting blueprints, calculating material and labor costs, preparing detailed cost estimates, and ensuring compliance with plumbing codes and regulations. They play a crucial role in the bidding process by providing accurate and competitive estimates for plumbing projects, which helps prevent budget overruns and ensures project profitability.

Requirements

• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills to evaluate project requirements, interpret blueprints, and determine the scope of work accurately.
• Communication Skills: Effective communication skills to gather accurate information and convey estimates clearly, building trust and ensuring all parties are on the same page.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in using estimating software and other technical tools for efficient and accurate cost calculations and report generation.
• Computer Skills Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Teams or other collaboration platforms.
• Education: High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent. College, trade school, or military education is beneficial.
• Experience: Typically requires three years or more of related experience in the plumbing estimating process, with extensive experience and knowledge in mechanical construction and/or service industry.

Responsibilities

• Review and Analyze Project Plans: Evaluate project plans, specifications, and requirements to accurately determine the scope of work.
• Prepare Cost Estimates: Calculate material and labor costs, prepare detailed cost estimates, and ensure estimates are precise and reflect true costs and materials needed for the project.
• Interpret Blueprints: Accurately interpret blueprints and technical drawings to understand the plumbing system requirements and scope of work.
• Collaborate with Stakeholders: Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to gather accurate information and convey estimates clearly.
• Use Estimating Software: Proficient in using estimating software and other technical tools for efficiency and accuracy in cost calculations and report generation.
