About The Position

The Plumbing Designer III plays a key role in supporting the design and documentation of plumbing systems across a variety of project types. Working under the supervision of the project’s Engineer-of-Record, this role handles intermediate complexity tasks and contributes to the development of coordinated, constructible, and code-compliant designs. This position involves close collaboration with architects, engineers, designers, and external partners. Responsibilities include 3D modeling, field investigations, independent design work, red-to-black markup reviews, and the production of discipline-specific deliverables.

Requirements

  • Associate degree, technical trade school certification, or equivalent experience in plumbing design within an AEC firm.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, including field experience in design or construction.

Nice To Haves

  • ASPE CPD (Certified in Plumbing Design) certification.
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD MEP.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with plumbing codes and industry standards.
  • Experience with building codes and their application in design.
  • Hands-on experience designing systems such as: Domestic cold and hot water Non-potable and soft water Tepid water and natural gas Specialty service piping (e.g., N2, O2, CO2, compressed air) Sanitary waste/venting and stormwater Specialty waste/drainage systems (e.g., process and biological waste)
  • Understanding of cGMPs and experience with advanced technology projects (e.g., R&D labs, biotech, pharma, food & nutrition, consumer products).
  • Ability to perform basic plumbing design calculations under engineering supervision.
  • Strong coordination skills across disciplines and with external partners.
  • Solid working knowledge of applicable building codes and technical aspects of CRB’s market sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal and external team members to ensure coordinated and complete plumbing designs.
  • Support all phases of design, including programming, planning, feasibility, concept development, detailed design, construction documentation, and administration.
  • Assist with 3D modeling and design using Revit and AutoCAD MEP.
  • Conduct field investigations and site surveys to inform design decisions.
  • Perform independent design tasks and review markups for accuracy and completeness.
  • Interface with clients and external partners to support project execution.
  • Plan and manage plumbing design tasks across multiple projects.
  • Travel as needed for client development, site visits, and project execution.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, including plumbing and building codes.
  • Coordinate with architectural, engineering, and construction teams to ensure efficient and accurate project delivery.
