About The Position

The Plumbing Assistant supports licensed plumbers and foremen with safe, efficient installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems on active jobsites. This role prepares materials and tools, assists with layout and rough/finish work, keeps the work area clean and code-compliant, and learns trade skills to progress toward Journeyman.

Requirements

  • 0–2 years plumbing, construction, or mechanical trade experience (apprenticeship or trade school a plus).
  • Able to read a tape measure, use common hand/power tools, and follow written/verbal instructions.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required; OSHA-10 and First Aid/CPR preferred (or willingness to obtain within 90 days).
  • Regularly lift 50–75 lbs, stand/kneel/climb for extended periods, work at heights/rooftops and in mechanical rooms; tolerate hot/cold/dirty environments.
  • Safety-first mindset, punctual, organized, and attentive to detail; team-oriented with a positive, coachable attitude

Responsibilities

  • Job Setup & Material Handling: Stage tools, pipe, fittings, and equipment; pull materials per takeoff; load/unload deliveries.
  • Assist with Installations: Help cut, thread, glue, press, and assemble piping (copper, PEX, PVC/CPVC, cast iron, steel); set fixtures and trim under supervision.
  • Layout & Measurements: Read basic plans/markups; measure, mark, and drill/penetrate per layout; maintain slopes and clearances.
  • Testing & QC: Assist with pressure tests, flushing, chlorination, leak checks, and documenting results.
  • Tools & Equipment: Safely operate hand/power tools (saws, threaders, press tools), ladders, lifts; perform basic tool maintenance.
  • Housekeeping & Safety: Keep work areas clean; set barricades/signage; follow PPE, LOTO, confined-space, and hot-work procedures.
  • Documentation: Track hours accurately; capture site photos; note material shortages/damages and report to lead.
  • Team Support: Take direction from Journeyman/Foreman; communicate risks/conflicts; support punch-list and closeout tasks.
