About The Position

Primary Purpose: Under general supervision assist the Supervisor, Lead and assigned journeyman in completing Apprentice level work in the installation, repair, remodel, and maintenance of buildings as related to the Plumbing trade. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Maintain, repair, and install plumbing and related systems and components as assigned Conform to industry and shop standards of safety. Promptly report accidents on the job to the Supervisor and/or office Support Board and Administrative policies and decisions Work with and become knowledgeable in related systems such as irrigation, gas distribution, hydraulic systems, and components. Not limited to: Domestic water, effluent water, sewer, storm drainage and other similar systems Work with iPads and other technology items, tools, and programs as part of work in the Plumbing Shop Report facility discrepancies and problems as needed for repair in a timely manner Coordinate as needed with campuses to assure maintenance work does not interfere with school activities or schedules Respond to emergency call outs after hours as required. Follow up with Supervisor or Maintenance Directors on work done Assist Shop Supervisors and Journeyman in coordination work to be done by outside vendors or contractors Always keep all equipment and tools clean and in good condition for use Keep all work areas clean.; Thorough clean up should be done at the end of all completed work and or at the end of each workday Process completed work orders and/or reports as needed and order materials to complete work assigned. Communicate effectively to eliminate any problems, surprises, or misunderstandings Report vandalisms or emergency problems immediately to Directors/Supervisors and appropriate Administrative personnel All other duties assigned in a spirit of teamwork and cooperation; Work could include working with other shops and trades as needed

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Hold a valid Texas Driver's License and maintain a good driving record
  • Pursue professional growth activities to continue development in the Plumbing trade. Must be willing to gain knowledge of codes and standards pertaining to the installation of Plumbing systems
  • One to two years' experience under a Master Plumber and one to two years' experience in commercial plumbing work desired but not required
  • Continue to learn and develop towards valid Journey Plumbing License
  • Self-starter, high initiative and require little supervision. Must be punctual, dependable, honest and of good moral character
  • Professional attitude always and have excellent communication skills and work well with others
  • Neat, clean cut and present a professional appearance
  • Must maintain confidentiality on department procedures and operations
  • Must be able to climb a ladder without limitations and be familiar with other electrical equipment and tools
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions, diagrams, and manufacturer's manuals
