About The Position

Under occasional supervision, the Plumber performs installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing and gas systems in schools, adhering to applicable codes, specifications, schedules, and standards. Key duties include diagnosing malfunctions, repairing broken water lines, unstopping and maintaining sewer lines and treatment facilities, maintaining hot water systems for health and sanitation, repairing and maintaining plumbing fixtures, and flushing well water systems. The role also involves estimating materials and labor for job assignments, procuring necessary supplies, and potentially engaging in special projects such as new construction. A critical aspect of this position is responding to after-hours emergency calls seven days a week. The Plumber is also responsible for preparing and submitting various records and reports, including work orders, diagnostic reports, and parts requests, and operating and maintaining a range of equipment from two-way radios to heavy machinery like backhoes and high-pressure jetters. Interaction with supervisors, co-workers, contractors, and school district personnel is also a regular part of the job.

Requirements

  • Physically able to operate a variety of machines and equipment including a two-way radio, vehicle, hand and power tools.
  • Ability to exert up to twenty pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to drive, walk or stand for periods of time, stoop, kneel, crouch, push, pull, climb, etc., and perform manual tasks.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry weights of up to 100 pounds.
