About The Position

The Plumber Apprentice supports licensed Journeyman and Master Plumbers in the installation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of plumbing systems in residential and/or commercial settings. This position is part of a recognized union apprenticeship pathway and is designed for individuals pursuing a long-term plumbing career through structured on-the-job training, formal classroom instruction, and mentorship, while adhering to all safety, quality, customer service, and collective bargaining agreement (CBA) standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED require
  • Enrolled in, accepted into, or willing to enroll in a registered union plumbing apprenticeship program
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and strong desire to learn a skilled trade
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under the supervision of Journeyman Plumbers, Foremen, and Supervisors
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to meet union hiring hall, dispatch, and apprenticeship requirements
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening (if applicable)

Responsibilities

  • Assist licensed Journeyman and Master Plumbers with installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems, including water supply, gas, drainage, and waste systems
  • Perform assigned work in accordance with union work rules, collective bargaining agreements, and jurisdictional requirements
  • Load, unload, and organize tools, materials, and equipment at job sites
  • Cut, assemble, and install pipes, fittings, valves, and fixtures under supervision
  • Perform basic plumbing tasks such as measuring, drilling, trenching, and material preparation
  • Learn to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical diagrams
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites in compliance with OSHA, union safety standards, company policies, and local plumbing codes
  • Communicate professionally with team members, supervisors, foremen, and customers
  • Accurately document work completed, materials used, and time spent as required by the company and union apprenticeship program
  • Participate in required union apprenticeship classes, training programs, and skill development initiatives
  • Represent Altstadt Hoffman Plumbing and the union professionally on all job sites
