About The Position

The Plating Technician I provides day shift manufacturing support for Electroless Nickel Plating operations in a high-tech, high-volume environment. This role supports advanced packaging of wafer and die level bare silicon products, ensuring safe, high-quality plating processes are maintained in compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Chemistry or a related field with 1–2 years of experience in the Chemical or Semiconductor Industry; OR High School Diploma/GED or equivalent with 3–4 years of experience in the Chemical or Semiconductor Industry
  • Working knowledge of algebra
  • Ability to identify problems and respond quickly and effectively
  • Ability to work independently and remain self-motivated
  • Ability to maintain a safe working environment and follow best practices for chemical handling
  • Good verbal and written communication skills for product documentation
  • Understanding of City, State, and Federal regulations for Wastewater and Hazardous Materials
  • Must be able to stand and remain on feet for the majority of the assigned shift
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to work in a clean room environment and follow all clean room protocols
  • Must work safely with hazardous materials on a daily basis; appropriate personal protective equipment is provided and required

Responsibilities

  • Monitor plating bath chemistry and adjust chemistry to plating line baths as necessary, including tank temperatures and pH
  • Run titrations to analyze chemical baths and maintain line balance
  • Set up plating runs and maintain the plating line
  • Run parts manually through the plating line and monitor parts as they process through plating baths
  • Inspect all related tank level sensors, piping, fittings, and pumps for leaks and damage
  • Carry out bi-weekly and monthly plating tank maintenance, including dumping, cleaning, and preparation of process baths
  • Maintain a clean and orderly plating and lab area
  • Handle standard thickness and thin wafers with care
  • Visually inspect wafers pre- and post-plate using microscopes and digital imaging systems
  • Perform shear metals testing post-plate and conduct height measurements
  • Maintain accurate logs for all chemical additions
  • Follow all City, State, and Federal regulations for wastewater and hazardous materials handling
  • Adhere to clean room protocols including use of lab coat, hairnet, booties, facemask, gloves, eye-protective lenses along with all other PPE requirements.
  • Assist with plating experiments and development of new plating processes
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
