About The Position

Collins Aerospace is looking to hire a motivated Platform Systems Engineer with a passion for engineering, a high degree of accountability and the ability to thrive in an Agile team environment as part of our Military Avionics engineering organization. The selected engineer will play a crucial role in developing and testing avionics for US Army Special Operations Aviation (SOA) program under the Rotary Wing Military Avionics & Helos Group at Collins Aerospace. This dynamic position offers flexibility to push the boundaries of technology, enhancing the capabilities of MH-60M and MH-47G aircraft platforms. This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered. This role is categorized as hybrid, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote following the schedule assigned by the Manager.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
  • Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Ability to be travel to Cedar Rapids, Iowa for test events and test environment updates, as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies
  • Working knowledge / understanding of data busses and protocols (Ethernet, MIL-STD-1553B, and ARINC-429)
  • Basic experience with DOORS, JAMA, JIRA, and ALM tool suite
  • Basic experience working within an aerospace related engineering development environment
  • Basic experience or knowledge of engineering/technology requirements capture and configuration management tools.
  • Basic experience or an educational background covering requirements capture & definition, integration, verification & validation testing.
  • Experience with DevSecOps tools such as Robot and Jenkins.

Responsibilities

  • Perform design, requirements, validation, & verification tasks for MH-60M and MH-47G cockpit avionics for the US Army Special Operations Aviation (SOA) programs.
  • Learn and effectively use requirements capture, peer review, configuration management, and AGILE development tools.
  • On-site execution of requirements-based testing, robustness and Ad-Hoc testing in a lab environment (schedule flexibility is necessary during formal test phases).
  • Support requirements capture and assist in decomposing customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system requirements.
  • Support cross-functional team development which include customer stakeholders and domain engineers.
