About The Position

The Plastics B Operator is responsible for running plastic machines, assisting A Operators with setups, machine adjustments, and daily activities, while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and production schedules. This role involves monitoring part quality and production rates, maintaining accurate records, and communicating equipment or operational issues to A Operators and management. The operator is also expected to maintain a clean and orderly work area following 5S principles and adhere to all safety procedures and company values.

Requirements

  • Skill to set up and operate plastic injection molding machines (can be learned on the job)
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions or special instructions related to changes in procedures
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other employees and give assistance to new personnel
  • Ability to interpret manufacturing specifications (blueprints, process sheets, daily job cards, operating instructions, etc.) in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to stay positive with a good attitude and values Trimark’s Core Values
  • Judgment to perform basic machine setup
  • Judgment to determine overall quality of finished plastic products (An A Operator can assist as required)
  • Judgment to operate forklift and other machinery in a safe manner
  • Ability to set up production equipment with good manufacturing practices and operating procedures
  • Ability to perform shutdown and startup procedures on department specific equipment
  • Ability to ensure paperwork is completed & filled out correctly
  • Ability to ensure department work instructions and special instructions are read, understood and followed
  • Ability to assist A operator at times loading job information into JDE
  • Ability to ensure quality checks are completed for every job you are producing
  • Ability to perform operations in a safe manner at all times
  • Ability to identify operating errors and report to A Operator
  • Ability to help assist A Operator in fixing operating errors, tooling issues, and quality issue
  • Ability to identify quality issues
  • Ability to assist the A Operator with troubleshooting issues to help build knowledge and better understanding
  • Ability to convey information to others effectively
  • Ability to understand blueprints and measuring gages
  • Ability to understand how to read blueprints and determine good or bad
  • Ability to understand how to use correct measuring tools to gage parts such as calipers, gage pins, or any other specialty gages needed to ensure part quality
  • Knowledge of “TriMark’s Quality Policy” and its location
  • Ability to understand quality defects, what they are and how they happen
  • Ability to identify quality defects

Responsibilities

  • Review work schedule to make sure of what jobs are to be started or completed
  • Set up machine and check mold, air and water lines, and other adjustments to minimize safety hazards and help achieve highest level of quality production possible (assistance from A operator may be needed)
  • Test run first few pieces for quality check and make adjustments as required to achieve full production capacity as quickly as possible (An A Operator can assist as required)
  • Monitor quality of parts regularly to minimize time-consuming sorting, or waste
  • Monitor production rates to see that they meet established standards
  • Notify Process Engineer, Manufacturing Coordinator and/or Manufacturing Manager of recurring problems promptly
  • Keep accurate time and job records
  • Provide information to the A operator about any equipment, tool, or running issue
  • Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition using 5S principles to minimize safety hazards and lost time accidents
  • Follow established safety procedures and policies at all times
  • Maintain a good attendance record
  • Perform other duties as assigned
