About The Position

The plant relief person must know and understand every job in the plant. Their hours vary from day to day, and their days off may vary from week to week. Essential Functions Follow and understand all the “Standard Operating Procedures”. Pasteurize milk and milk products as required by law. Sample and weigh products as required by law. Perform jobs on all shifts as requested by the production supervisor which may include sanitation, receiving, HTST clean up, evaporator and dryer operation, liquid processing, powder operation, palletizing, rework, janitor, or other jobs that may be created in the production department. Required to climb stairs, ladders, and work in confined spaces. Must notify foreperson or supervisor if standards are not met. Responsible for maintaining a clean, orderly, and neat work area. Assist with break and lunch relief as needed. When not covering vacations, this person will work in the powder plant department as assigned. Complete all paperwork neatly and correctly. Responsible for keeping all floors, walls, machines, and pipes clean. Responsible for all work being done properly and in a timely fashion. Must work in a safe and sanitary manner. Follow all company Policies. Maintain regular and reliable attendance at work. Support and enforce SQF / QA, GMP, Safety policies and procedures, and production needs. “Food Safety and Quality” are the responsibilities of this position.Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Basic computation skills required.
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required.
  • English is required as the written and spoken language. A well-modulated tonal volume is required with excellent diction skills needed.
  • Must possess or be able to acquire and maintain a forklift operator license.
  • Must possess or be able to acquire and maintain a valid State of California Pasteurizer’s License.
  • Must possess or be able to acquire and maintain a valid State of California Weigher’s and Sampler’s License.
  • Must possess or be able to acquire and maintain a state of California Charm Test certification.
  • Must be able to acquire a Yard Truck Certification.
  • Must possess or be able to acquire a state issued Driver’s License Class C.
  • Personal protective equipment including, but not limited to hearing protection, bump caps, hair and beard nets, gloves, and safety glasses must be used in the performance of duties.
  • Proper lifting techniques must be employed at all times.
  • General knowledge of manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • The use of non-slip footwear is necessary due to slippery and wet floors.
  • The use of rubber gloves is necessary to perform job functions.
  • Constantly subjected to moving mechanical parts.
  • An employee may come into contact with the following: ammonia, acids, caustics, chlorines, paints, particles, oils and lubricants, steam, pneumatics, fumes and hazardous gases, sealing compounds.
  • Employee will be subject to temperatures ranging from 30 degrees F to 130 degrees F.
  • Working area is noisy and may require hearing protection to be worn at all times.
  • May be required to enter a confined space.
  • Must be able to stand on feet for at least a two-hour consecutive time period and up to 8-12 hours.
  • Each workday, the plant relief lifts up to 58 pounds on a repetitive basis.
  • Employee will be expected, each workday to carry 58 pounds on a repetitive basis.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying above 58 pounds may be required as well.
  • Each workday, the plant relief frequently pushes and pulls up to, but not limited to, 58 pounds in a repetitive manner.
  • Each workday, the plant relief will bend and stoop often.
  • Each workday, the plant relief will sometimes squat.
  • Occasional kneeling/crawling may be required.
  • Each workday, the plant relief will often twist and turn while carrying.
  • Each workday, the plant relief will occasionally climb and/or balance.
  • Each workday, the plant relief will frequently reach in a repetitive manner.
  • Each workday, the plant relief will frequently grasp and manipulate in a repetitive manner.
