What You'll Do: Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards. Plant Operation. Operate plant equipment to regulate the flow of materials to and from conveyors, chutes, pumps, or storage bins. Maintain responsibility for starting up, batching, and shutting down the batch plant on a daily basis. Inspect Equipment, Structures, and Material. Assist quality control and drivers to ensure quality material is being produced. Perform daily inspections and maintenance of plant equipment and document items in need of repair or service. Monitor Processes and Materials. Work closely with co-workers and dispatch to batch concrete in a timely and quality manner. Monitor raw materials throughout the shift to ensure inventory levels are sufficient for production. Repair and Maintain Plant Equipment. Assist with maintenance and housekeeping activities, such as operating equipment throughout the plant when necessary. Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience. Previous experience in the aggregate or construction industry is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Best Practices. A basic knowledge of concrete, cement, or construction industries is preferred.
  • Flexibility. Must be able to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
  • Mechanical Skills. Must have some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.
