About The Position

The City of Nacogdoches Public Works Department is seeking a dedicated individual to join our Water Utilities Division as a Plant Operator or Trainee in Wastewater Treatment. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • A valid Texas Driver license.
  • The ability to obtain a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Class D Wastewater License within one (1) year of hire date. (Pay is dependent upon possession of Class A, B, C or D Wastewater License with certificate/license pay up to $200.00 per month, depending on license obtained)
  • Physical ability to perform heavy work (exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally), stand, sit, kneel and work in varies indoor/outdoor environmental conditions, including exposure to chemicals and temperature extremes.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of wastewater treatment plant operations, safety procedures and permitting requirements.
  • Familiarity with standard laboratory tests and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Make regular tours of the plant, checking engines, pumps and generators for proper functioning.
  • Accurately record data from meters and gauges and operate the plan within strict permit limits.
  • Collect water samples and perform standard chemical and biological tests.
  • Perform general preventive maintenance, assist with major repairs and conduct routine building and grounds maintenance, including mowing.
