About The Position

The Plant Operations Supervisor provides oversight and supervision of the daily operations of the Physical Plant and supports the Physical Plant Manager in supervising all Physical Plant staff as needed. This includes Trades personnel, Boiler Plant staff, and the Automotive Shop. The supervisor assists in allocating resources appropriately, prioritizing tasks, and ensuring compliance with all regulations. This position oversees work crews composed of various trades and semi-skilled workers, who may hold different levels of trade accreditation.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years of lead work, foreman work, or supervision related to the class concept; OR
  • Three (3) years of experience related to the class concept AND completion of an accredited vocational-training or construction-training program related to the class concept; OR
  • Two (2) years of related experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Project Coordination & Planning: Experience coordinating major projects or shutdowns, prioritizing tasks, and collaborating with multiple departments and stakeholders.
  • Budgeting & Resource Management: Skilled in assisting with budget preparation, allocating resources effectively, and ensuring compliance with operational and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Supervision of building maintenance, operations, and smaller, less complex repair or improvement projects, often focused on a single trade.
  • Operational failures and system shutdowns at this level are limited in impact, and conflicts are minimal.
  • Responsibilities may include the use of respirators or SCBAs when necessary.
  • Planning, organizing, and managing construction projects, building and infrastructure improvements, maintenance, and contract management, either directly or through subordinate supervisors.
  • Coordinating capital construction and improvement projects, managing or assisting with budgets, and ensuring departmental operations align with the overall vision and mission of the agency.
