About The Position

The Plant Operations Scheduler is responsible for establishing, reviewing, and maintaining the plant’s manufacturing schedule in alignment with each production area’s capacity, sales demand, and overall procurement constraints. Establishing the plant’s manufacturing schedule will involve working closely with the Production Schedulers of each area, Area Managers, Productions Supervisors, and others to coordinate manufacturing plans that achieve the company objectives relative to OTIF (On-Time in Full Shipment), Total Labor Productivity, and optimal inventory levels. The Plant Operations Scheduler will be responsible for analyzing scenarios that balance demand and supply while optimizing inventory and minimizing the impact of demand volatility. This role requires consistent and strong communication within Operations, throughout Perlick and across both manufacturing sites and may directly or indirectly manage the activities of other staff members or outside consultants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in operations management, supply chain, business, or a related field.
  • 10-12 years of scheduling and/or planning experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 5-7 years of buying experience.
  • APICS CPIM certification required.
  • Experience with complex, low volume high mix products in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with planning diverse processes to include but not limited to cutting, forming, welding, machining, brazing, assembly, testing, and shipping.
  • Experience influencing cross-functional teams without direct authority
  • Experience with and skill in Epicor ERP and MRP (Material Requirements Planning) required.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledgeable about supply chain and manufacturing business operations.
  • Understanding of BOMs, Routings, and Master Data.
  • Skilled in process improvement and system optimization.
  • Excellent knowledge of production planning principles.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills, such as pivot tables, charting, formulas, and macros.
  • Lean manufacturing knowledge and practical application.
  • Proactive communication with both internal and external customers as issues occur.

Responsibilities

  • Creation of capacity plans based on the latest demand signal, to identify where there are any potential bottlenecks or risks to supply and to develop and recommend proposals to mitigate and to ensure that the manufacturing plant can meet the future demand.
  • Identify where there is significant underutilization which could impact the costs of supply or put revenue at risk.
  • Capable of developing a supply plan across a complex portfolio and multiple sites if required as role’s maturity develops.
  • Works closely with Area Managers on development and growth plans for our Production Schedulers.
  • Works closely with the Production Schedulers of each area setting correct levels of inventory within the Supply plan by understanding the demand volatility and supply chain lead times.
  • Responsible for process improvement initiatives including but not limited to subcontract, reorder levels, fulfillment, job releases, work queues, and level loading.
  • Ensure that the Supply plan is financially evaluated regarding balancing the requirement of consistent product availability versus the cost of supply and the investment needed in conjunction with financial partners to ensure meeting the operational budgets and targets.
  • Effective communication and confirmation back from supply planning to the demand plan in confirming capability to meet the requirements via the daily and weekly execution process but also via a weekly Customer Operations Meetings.
  • Working closely with the sales team to ensure that timely signals on demand changes are communicated and executed upon.
  • Managing priority orders with sales and customer experience team to exceed our customers expectations.
  • Works closely with Area Managers established and maintaining KPI’s for the production scheduling team that are aligned to the business area’s goals.
  • Responsible for gathering, analyzing, and reporting on On-Time in Full Shipment misses while creating cross-functional countermeasures to resolve.
