About The Position

The Director of Operations leads, manages, and strategically directs department activities for production, quality, materials | supply chain, and manufacturing engineering of both current production and product development launch activity. Facility and campus management | maintenance, and EHS for the production floor, associated office space and campus. Strong manufacturing operations experience in the automotive sector is required to oversee the daily manufacturing operations for the three product groups of Aftermarket, Commercial Vehicle and Automotive OEMs. The role has P&L responsibility for the operational performance in all product groups. The area of responsibility for this role is very broad and thus requires thorough knowledge of various company processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science or Business
  • Proven experience as Director of Operations in automotive industry or equivalent position.
  • Ability to attract, retain, and motivate best in class talent.
  • Strong communication skills, at all levels of the organization and to external business partners.
  • Business and financial acumen to build profitable product line operations.
  • In depth knowledge of diverse business functions and principles including but not limited to the examples supply chain, quality, finance, human resources, lean production, etc.
  • Strong customer orientation as a trusted, collaborative and productive partner.
  • Results and detail-oriented: holds self and others accountable for commitments.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly plant processes, procedures, facilities, and equipment.
  • Expertise in problem-solving techniques and root cause analysis for continual improvement perspective.

  • Experience in PLEX ERP software system preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and supervision to a team of managers (production, quality, materials, manufacturing engineering and EHS) and their associated organizations.
  • Focus on building and retaining the team through recruitment, training, and mentoring.
  • Act as an ambassador for the company as you interact with our customers and provide excellent support processes organized to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Work closely with HR to jointly create and maintain policies that relate directly to the operations organization or the use of the facility, campus, and assets. Jointly handling staffing and employee HR actions.
  • Work closely with the Regional Controller to understand, control and report operational variances within the income statement and balance sheet, promoting profitability.
  • Active member of the leadership team supporting monthly, quarterly, annual reviews and budget setting requirements.
  • Schedule and deliver Monthly Communications Meetings to the operations organization.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain strong systems and processes to ensure flawless operational execution. Lean manufacturing, six sigma and other quality processes.
  • Establish and maintain visible manufacturing and reporting systems to drive highest quality, on time delivery in a safe work environment.
  • Manage and support the advanced quality and manufacturing teams and work with the product development team to support Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) of highest quality parts.
  • Support maintaining IATF16949:2016 and ISO14001:2015 accreditation.
  • Process leader for the Operations department R-BOS (RECARO Business Operating System) processes, procedures, work instructions, standards, and forms. Create and revise R-BOS documents to support the responsibilities of the department.
  • Report department KPI's and their related corrective/preventive actions to leadership. Execute department performance by having YOY improvements on KPIs.
  • Ensure that the company runs with legality and conformity to established regulations.
