About The Position

The Plant Nurse is located at Marwin’s Columbia, South Carolina facility and reports directly to the Director of Operations. This role may also provide support to nearby facilities when needed. The Plant Nurse is responsible for administering first aid, evaluating and treating minor injuries or illnesses, coordinating care for more serious conditions, and delivering occupational health services focused on safety, prevention, and overall employee well‑being.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Minimum of a 2‑year diploma from an accredited Registered Nurse (RN) program.
  • Current, unrestricted South Carolina RN license.
  • Physically capable of performing all standard RN duties with reasonable accommodations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and general PC operation.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre‑work and return‑to‑work physicals.
  • Perform and manage drug screenings.
  • Manage Hearing Conservation and Pulmonary Programs, including respiratory fit testing.
  • Administer emergency first aid and treat minor workplace injuries or illnesses.
  • Coordinate referral and follow‑up care for more serious injuries or medical conditions.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee medical records in accordance with regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and maintain current knowledge of applicable workplace health and safety standards.
  • Maintain the on‑site medical clinic, including equipment, supplies, and First Aid cabinets.
  • Ensure all medical equipment is properly calibrated, sanitized, and fully operational.
  • Serve as the primary contact between Marwin and designated insurance company for Workers’ Compensation matters.
  • Complete and submit First Report of Injury documentation promptly and accurately.
  • Arrange or provide transportation for injured employees to medical facilities as needed.
  • Maintain mandatory OSHA reporting.
  • Coordinate and/or conduct employee training courses, such as: First Aid CPR Bloodborne Pathogens Hepatitis Education Other workplace health and safety topics
  • Lead health promotion efforts and encourage healthy lifestyle habits.
  • Provide counseling and guidance on employee health needs and act as a liaison with community health resources when necessary.
  • Facilitate OSHA and plant training process.
  • Lead the Health & Wellness Safety Team.
  • Plan, promote, and coordinate wellness initiatives such as Health Fairs, blood drives, and awareness campaigns.
