Under general direction of the Plant Manager, the Plant ME Manager oversees the plant equipment and processes. He or she ensures conformance to engineering standards for production methods, equipment utilization, layout, safety requirements, and ergonomics. Responsible for managing the product development launch process and managing Process Engineers. Ensures that the technology strategy is aligned with product, plant and corporate strategy. Provides leadership and training in the Continuous Improvement program. Facilitate teams, meetings, training, and support and monitor APQP and Continuous Improvement efforts plant wide. The main missions of the role are: Within the plant, manage processes and people in order to: Ensure that series production meets customer requirements Support to the continuous improvement process Ensure the plant readiness to launch successful new programs Manage and report key ME indicators Series production Procurement of manufacturing equipment under consideration of demanded security, quality and environmental protection and their preservation Equipment and tooling follow-up Support the engineering change management process Update manufacturing routines and work instructions Keep processes (machines, tools, procedures) at best possible level in compliance with HSE regulations and QCD Build the engineering budget and the plant CAPEX; and ensure their application Management of the plant central maintenance Monitor capacity utilization Keep plant lay-out updated Plant readiness to launch new programs Participate in the definition of the production process and selection of machines and equipment Define plant layout to support new products launch in line with MIFA Lead the installation process of new machines and equipment Support production in the start of new processes to ensure a successful SOP (initial samples, run at rate, work instructions) People Management Staff, train coach, assess and develop the plant ME team (direct or dotted line) Support and train other networks/functions (PSE, QSE…) The ideal candidate will have/be: results oriented and have proven experience in engineering management and lean manufacturing, be well-versed in quality control and the manufacturing process. Continuous learning is expected of this role.
