About The Position

Plant Manager The Plant Manager will hold a key position in ensuring that our Plant runs safely, efficiently and to the highest standard of quality. Basic Function: Direct the day-to-day production, shipping, and preventative maintenance activities at the silica sand plant and mine to maintain a safe work environment and meet production requirements with a quality product at the lowest possible cost. Ensure full compliance with all regulatory requirements in regard to Safety & Health and Environmental matters.

Requirements

  • Our Plant Manager will require integrity, relevant supervisory experience, a passion for safety and a related degree - or - equivalent experience.
  • This person will be a leader that cares for the well-being of the team.
  • Strong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, Six Sigma concepts, and Safety Fundamentals such as MSHA regulations.
  • Experience with scheduling, level loading Production and labor resources
  • Competency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and experience with ERP/MRP systems
  • Strong managerial skills to manage human resources, projects, spending targets (including expense and capital) and strategic planning.
  • Excellent problem solving, communication, team-building and interpersonal skills.
  • Ten (10) years of related experience with five (5) years of supervisory or managerial experience.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience working with MSHA
  • All personnel may be required to perform duties outside of their normal responsibilities from time-to time, as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the scheduling of all production, shipping, and preventative maintenance activities at the plant and mine to ensure shipments are made on time and meet quality requirements.
  • Develop long and short-term plans to achieve plant, Operations department, and corporate goals and objectives.
  • Provide direct supervision and delegate as appropriate to Production, Mine, Maintenance, EH&S and Shipping Supervision.
  • Working with the EHS function, direct and oversee employee safety training, plant housekeeping, and ensure adherence to all Corporate EHS policies and federal and state regulations.
  • Measure, track, and manage the plant through use of operational metrics and KPIs.
  • Prepare and maintain daily and weekly production reporting.
  • Estimate production times, staffing requirements, operating expenditures, and related costs to provide information for management decisions
  • Using the continuous improvement philosophy look for opportunities to improve quality, costs, productivities, and other efficiencies while eliminating waste.
  • Monitor operating costs.
  • Strive to provide the highest quality product at the lowest possible cost.
  • Initiate programs to adhere to standards and/or establish improved standards.
  • Maintain an "Open Door" policy to ensure good relations with staff and hourly work force.
  • Recommend actions necessary for development of a qualified and motivated workforce.
  • Assist in the preparation of Capital Plans and completion of capital projects.
  • All personnel may be required to perform duties outside of their normal responsibilities from time-to time, as needed.
