What You’ll Do: The Production Manager is a supervisory level position within Concrete Operations. The Production Manager plans and directs operation activities concerned with the production of ready mix concrete. The position involves, but is not limited to, the following tasks and duties:

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate fluently in English
  • Ability to give and receive information on the phone
  • Working knowledge of Command Alkon computer programs and Microsoft products
  • 1 to 2 years industry knowledge
  • 1 to 2 years previous supervisory experience a plus
  • Must possess a current California driver’s license and clean DMV (2 points or less)

Responsibilities

  • Oversee or directly batch specific required mix designs utilizing computerized systems to accurately meet individual customer and company quality control requirement
  • Supervise and direct 4-20 union Ready Mix drivers and union yard personnel and is responsible for everyone’s safety at the plant site. Assigns daily work and disseminates policies and objectives to hourly staff
  • Resolves problems, prepares schedules, and sets deadlines to ensure timely completion of daily work
  • Reviews and analyzes data required for planning activities, such as new commitments, status of work in progress, and problems encountered
  • Organizes material resources and inventories of raw materials to ensure effective production of ready mix concrete and responsible for supervision of the maintenance, repair and reliability of onsite batch plant equipment with associated safety requirements
  • Coordinates activities of department with related activities of other plant locations to ensure efficiency and economy
  • Responsible for the direct compliance of all established environmental, regulatory and safety procedures on the plant site
  • Responsible for all direct cash or credit transactions from deliveries originating from their plant
  • Prepares accurate reports, required inventories and records on department activities for management
  • Recommends employees for awards and has authority to discipline employees in accordance with current collective bargaining agreements
  • Monitors work of subordinates for safety conformance and provides for a safe work environment
