About The Position

The Plant Manager II is a critical leadership role responsible for the end-to-end management of high-capacity Ready-Mix Concrete Operations. This individual provides strategic and tactical oversight of production, safety, quality control, and logistics to ensure the facility meets or exceeds performance targets. As the Plant Manager II, you are accountable for the site's Profit and Loss (P&L), asset protection, and the professional development of a diverse team. The role requires a "safety-first" mentality, ensuring all activities comply with OSHA and Martin Marietta’s "Guardian Angel" safety culture.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or relevant experience
  • 5 – 7+ years of experience in Ready-Mix Concrete Operations, with at least 3 years in a Supervisory or Management capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and sustain a world-class safety culture. Conduct monthly/quarterly safety meetings and perform daily "Safety Walks" to identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Ensure the plant operates 100% compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and local environmental regulations.
  • Lead investigations for any near-misses or accidents, ensuring root-cause analysis and corrective actions are implemented immediately.
  • Direct the daily production of concrete, ensuring the Command Alkon (or equivalent) batching system is optimized for accuracy and volume.
  • Utilize Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor "yards per man-hour," loading times, and tempering cycles.
  • Manage raw material levels and perform weekly physical measurements of storage silos and stockpiles to prevent production outages.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Control (QC) department to monitor slump, air content, and moisture levels. Ensure every batch meets customer specifications and ASTM standards.
  • Work closely with Central Dispatch to synchronize driver schedules with pour sequences, maximizing fleet utilization and on-time delivery.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for escalated customer issues, performing site visits as necessary to resolve delivery or product quality complaints.
  • Manage the annual operating budget. Analyze financial statements and monthly variance reports to identify cost-saving opportunities in labor, fuel, and maintenance.
  • Oversee the preventative maintenance (PM) program for the plant and mobile equipment. Ensure "Zero Downtime" through proactive repairs and capital expenditure (CAPEX) planning.
  • Maintain a professional and clean facility, ensuring the plant, office, and yard reflect Martin Marietta’s brand.
  • Interview and onboard new employees. Provide continuous coaching and conduct annual performance reviews for all direct reports.
  • Ensure all personnel are cross trained in plant operations and safety procedures. Manage "Progressive Discipline" processes fairly and consistently.
