About The Position

The Plant Manager - HMA is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a mobile hot mix asphalt (HMA) plant supporting WW Clyde projects in Nevada and Arizona. This role oversees daily production, maintenance, quality, and staffing, ensuring asphalt mixes meet specifications and are produced on time to support paving and heavy civil operations. The Plant Manager will travel regularly between project locations and will receive competitive per diem for travel and time spent on remote sites.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in hot mix asphalt plant operations, with at least 2–3 years in a lead operator, superintendent, or plant manager role.
  • Proven experience running an asphalt plant in support of heavy civil or highway projects; mobile or remote plant experience preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of HMA production, mix designs, plant controls, and DOT/specification requirements.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to supervise, train, and develop a plant crew in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting of asphalt plant equipment.
  • Basic computer skills, including email and spreadsheets; experience with automated plant control systems is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record.
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently and work at remote job sites in Nevada and Arizona, with per diem provided.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operation of the mobile HMA plant, including startup, shutdown, and monitoring production to meet cost, quality, and quantity targets.
  • Plan and adjust plant production to support project paving schedules; coordinate closely with project managers, paving superintendents, trucking, and dispatch.
  • Supervise, schedule, and mentor plant personnel; promote a strong safety culture through example, communication, and accountability.
  • Ensure all plant activities comply with company, federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.
  • Coordinate and perform, or oversee, preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Monitor quality control test results and work with QC staff to adjust materials, blends, and plant settings to meet project and DOT specifications.
  • Manage material inventories (liquid asphalt, aggregates, RAP, fuel, and other consumables), forecast needs, and coordinate deliveries to support continuous operations and cost control.
  • Lead plant mobilization and demobilization for new projects, including site setup, utilities coordination, and plant layout with the project team.
  • Maintain accurate records for production, maintenance, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by operations or area leadership to support successful project delivery.
