About The Position

Airgas, an Air Liquide company, is a leading U.S. supplier of industrial, medical and specialty gases, as well as hardgoods and related products; one of the largest U.S. suppliers of safety products. Air Liquide is present in 78 countries with approximately 64,500 associates globally. The Plant Maintenance Technician repairs and maintains facility, machinery, buildings and equipment used in compressing and liquefying gasses. They will also partner with internal and external customers to answer technical questions with Airgas equipment. Also responsible for keeping plant in compliance with all FDA, Safecor and DOT regulations. Responsible for adherence to company policies including safety and the use of personal protective equipment. Installs, extracts, inspects, troubleshoots and repairs bulk tanks, valves and cryogenic pumps and performs operational tests after installation. Operates and safely maintains equipment for pumping or repackaging gasses into cylinders. Regularly inspects and maintains pumping apparatus, tanks, and valves and associated monitoring devices. Answers technical questions from internal or external sources. Ensures any accident or injury is promptly reported to management. Conducts periodic checks of the Plant for safe and efficient operations. Operates a forklift, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment. Maintains neat, clean and orderly plant appearance. Operates a vehicle to travel to customer sites to work on equipment as needed. Repairs and maintains equipment in the plant such as compressors, scrubbers, instrument panels, and electrical equipment, following blueprints, schematics, and maintenance manuals, using hand tools, welding equipment, and testing instruments. Tests equipment to locate causes of trouble, using standard test meters. Dismantles equipment using hand tools and power tools. Welds, brazes, burns and solders parts. Repairs and replaces pipes and equipment, using pipefitting tools. Repairs and adjusts instrument control panels, rectifiers, motors, switches, and other electrical equipment. Repacks compressors and pumps. May operate metalworking tools to make and repair parts. Changes filtration materials as required. Performs all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures and comply with all federal, state, local and DOT regulations. Maintains neat, clean and professional personal appearance, and maintains vehicle appearance in a professional manner. All employees are expected to perform any reasonable work request that falls within the qualifications but not specifically described.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience and education.
  • At least one year of knowledge and experience of arc and gas welding with at least two years industry experience is preferred.
  • Competent in plumbing, carpentry and masonry work.
  • Experience working with electrical circuits, motors, compressors, pumps and drives in an industrial setting.
  • Ability to perform very heavy work, routinely lift 25-17 pounds and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 100 pounds.
  • Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to work occasional overtime to keep the plant running with limited downtown.
  • Must be able to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in temperatures ranging from -10 to over 110 degrees.

Responsibilities
