What You’ll Do: This 12-month program is designed to provide hands-on experience and foundational knowledge necessary to pursue a career in industrial fixed plant maintenance within a heavy-duty, high-production environment. The successful candidate will work closely with our experienced maintenance team to learn the practical skills required to keep our crushing, screening, and conveying equipment operating safely and efficiently.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • A strong mechanical aptitude and eagerness to learn a skilled trade.
  • Ability to work in a demanding industrial environment, which may include exposure to weather, dust, noise, and heavy equipment.
  • Commitment to the full 12-month duration of the apprentice program.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in routine inspection and preventative maintenance (PM) of fixed plant equipment (crushers, screens, conveyors, feeders).
  • Learn proper procedures for disassembling, inspecting, repairing, and reassembling critical machinery during scheduled rebuilds.
  • Learn basic fault diagnosis and repair techniques for gearboxes, bearings, shafts, and conveyor components (belts, idlers, pulleys).
  • Assist experienced technicians in troubleshooting mechanical failures and executing necessary repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Complete a concentrated 6-month module focused on foundational and advanced welding techniques (e.g., stick, MIG, flux-cored) relevant to heavy industrial equipment.
  • Gain proficiency in reading blueprints, layout, and performing essential fabrication tasks.
  • Practice safe operation of welding and cutting equipment, as well as general shop tools.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, MSHA/OSHA regulations, and quarry site procedures.
  • Participate in daily safety briefings and complete required safety training modules.
  • Learn and practice Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures for equipment isolation.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Assist in documenting maintenance activities, work orders, and inspection reports.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with maintenance personnel and production staff regarding equipment status.
