About The Position

The Plant Engineering Manager will provide oversight across multiple plant locations of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs, work request management, project engineering, project design, and project installation and commissioning. This role includes providing engineering and design guidance to facility plant engineers, developing engineering plans to support current and future plant requirements, and developing systems in critical areas such as preventative maintenance, spare parts inventories, and work order systems. The manager will lead or oversee capital and expense projects and coordinate engineering projects with leadership, plant teams, management, and contractors. Additionally, the role supports maintenance excellence programs and plant maintenance departments within designated locations.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering or related curriculum or technical training in related mechanical or electrical studies.
  • 8 or more years of progressive engineering, maintenance, or related experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in team or project leadership, environmental compliance, PLC programming, and capital project and budget management.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with plant leadership to complete current and long-term project engineering objectives in accordance with company engineering standards.
  • Manage expense and capital projects as required, including labor, repairs, maintenance expenses, and outside contractor services.
  • Facilitate equipment and facility design or renovation to meet company goals of capacity, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Develop, organize, and maintain engineering specifications/standards and process equipment operational parameters.
  • Provide guidance and support to maintain facility operating systems for optimum manufacturing process efficiencies.
  • Strive to reduce facility and manufacturing operating costs by providing technical solutions and best method analyses.
  • Utilize best practices across locations to drive continuous improvement for equipment reliability and maintenance cost controls.
  • Support plant leadership in defining facilities' budgetary needs for capital and maintenance expense accounts.
  • Develop and execute action plans associated with projects, production needs, and regulatory compliance.
  • Train others to keep pace with the latest technology.
  • Assist plant maintenance managers in monitoring and managing plant wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Ensure all plant environmental policies and procedures reflect current DFA guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements.
