About The Position

The Plant Director role for Califia Farms is responsible for day-to-day and strategic leadership and management of operations in our Bakersfield plant. This role oversees plant operations to achieve short and long-range business goals in safety, quality, customer service, costs, efficiency, plant reliability, and raw material usage yields.

Requirements

  • BS/BA or equivalent
  • 10+ years of leadership experience in production facilities, prefer beverage, food processing and/or dairy products.
  • P&L experience, strong financial and analytical
  • Excellent intuition and deductive reasoning for assessing
  • Keen insight and proactive ability to identify, assess and manage
  • Demonstrated experience and success in managing people effectively and leading operations function in a complex manufacturing
  • Skilled and experienced with labor, hiring and management practices, including building and maintaining high performance
  • Decisive and collaborative leader with the ability to drive performance through multiple organizational levels.

Responsibilities

  • Set performance objectives and key results (OKRs), operational indicators, and strategies; and lead execution to achieve objectives.
  • Ensure performance objectives are cascaded to all Plant Leadership Team Members.
  • Ensure Plant Leadership Team collaborates with each other to ensure coordination of activities and aligned decision making.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally in an inclusive and supportive way to develop a strong, highly cooperative culture that enables achieving business objectives. This includes all functions such as quality, logistics, supply planning, finance, IT, R&D, human resources, sales, and marketing.
  • Sustain a strong safety culture to ensure employees are working safely and injuries are prevented.
  • Develop and maintain a plant environment that encourages full and active engagement with all team members, to ensure all ideas, suggestions, and feedback are heard and acted on.
  • Ensure hourly team members understand plant performance indicators and receive regular feedback on the plant’s performance.
  • Accountable for financial performance of operations, drives organization to identify and implement cost savings improvements that result in a continuously declining product standard cost.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, manage/ prevent risk, and maintain an effective business continuity strategy.
  • Establish and sustain a culture of continuous improvement to identify and implement improvements in processes, work methods, and process execution that improve operational performance.
  • Hire, develop and retain management and operations staff, and provide direction, mentoring, and motivation to build and maintain a high performing plant.
  • Ensure that each department has the appropriate management and lead personnel who are responsible for fully training all positions to create an efficient and reliable operation.
  • Participate in annual plan development, and direct communication, implementation and execution of operations plans.
  • Establishes competencies with leadership team to: Efficiently execute production orders; Staff and operate all plant process and support equipment; Interacts with R&D management concerning product design and specifications to ensure efficient production methods.
  • Demonstrates commitment to the development, implementation and effectiveness of Califia’s quality management system.
