About The Position

Plant Buyer works out of our Roy Farm Nursery in Cornelius, Oregon. Daily interaction with local area, reginal and national nurseries to acquire the highest quality of plant material at reasonable prices. Responsibilities and Duties Negotiate pricing and procure plant material for multiple Teufel landscape projects in Oregon and Washington. Work from plant lists to produce price quotes for landscape projects. Work with external and internal growers to deliver the sizes and quality that we need at the right time of year. Coordinate inbound and outbound deliveries to reduce freight costs, ensuring that all materials are acquired at the lowest cost consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need Support and maintain vendor relations/performance to facilitate quality, service, price and delivery objectives Interviewing vendors, analyzing quotes, and scheduling deliveries Obtaining delivery certifications and reviewing materials received against orders placed Verify invoices for accuracy and submit for payment. Develop and maintain necessary records and files. Be able to work inside and outside as needed at all times of the year Visit vendor and job sites as needed Assist Nursery Manager with reports and/or tasks as required

Requirements

Procurement experience in landscaping, construction, plant nursery or related industry
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure
Good knowledge of trees, shrubs, plants and ground covers used in the PNW
Strong plant identification skills
Effective oral and written communication skills
Prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Strong work ethic
Exceptional customer service skills
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Have a valid Oregon driver’s license.
