About The Position

UPMC Corporate is seeking a Planning Team and Archival Drawing Support Intern to join our team this summer. This role follows a Monday–Friday schedule during standard business hours and is primarily onsite, with the option to work from home one to two days per week with prior supervisor approval. The position offers a competitive hourly wage of $20. The Intern will work in a team to scan/digitize and continue to develop/maintain an organizational file structure for archival drawings located in various UPMC buildings within the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh. Support the Planning and Computer Aided Facilities Management [CAFM] departments in pursuing a paperless historical database. Candidates may also support the teams in other daily tasks. Requirements

  • Graduated from high school
  • Currently enrolled and pursuing a post-secondary education degree (Associate’s – Master’s)
  • Must have completed at least 30 credits of post-secondary education
  • Completion of sophomore year preferred
  • Majors include Architecture, Drafting, Interior Design, Engineering, Archives/Library Sciences, Historic Preservation, or similar
  • Must be able to physically scan drawings in dimensions up to 48” and stand for extended periods of time
  • Presentation and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Microsoft proficiency, including Office and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with accountability for work performed.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Must be proactive and results-oriented with the ability to multi-task.
  • Candidate must be quality-minded and hold a degree of creativity and independence.
  • Ability to learn, adapt, and develop in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

  • Scanning/Digitization of paper drawing files
  • Organize files digitally within existing structures
  • Create new file structures when needed
  • Maintain and develop file naming conventions as needed
  • Support Planning and CAFM departments in other daily tasks that may include:
  • Field verification of existing buildings
  • Organize and verify Record Drawings, Shop Drawings and Project files of completed projects
  • Create presentations/tutorials of progress and file structure
