Ready to shape the future of resilient communities? Verdantas is looking for a Planning Intern or Co-Op to join our team. This position is available at our Dublin, Ohio, office or our Mentor, Ohio office. As a Planning Intern, you’ll join a collaborative, people‑focused team dedicated to sustainable solutions, community impact, and innovative problem‑solving. You’ll gain hands‑on experience supporting real projects, learning from seasoned planners across multiple disciplines, and contributing to meaningful work that helps shape the future of the communities we serve.

Requirements

  • Student in pursuit of a bachelor's degree in urban planning, public administration, or other related fields of study
  • Ability to work with extensive detail associated with grant program requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, basic skills and/or willingness to learn Adobe Suite and ArcGIS Pro
  • Ability to stay organized, manage their time appropriately, and work on multiple projects at a time
  • Must be able to work with others in a team environment
  • Flexibility to travel for in-person events and aid in evening meetings – travel is limited to same day travel

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing various types of plans and studies, including land use plans, zoning codes and maps, redevelopment plans, and economic development plans
  • Provide technical assistance in planning, zoning code consultation, community development plans, downtown plans, and other related work
  • Assist in the preparation of draft reports and other materials
  • Assist in analyzing data using GIS, Microsoft Office software, and other internet applications
  • Attend and participate in presentations to clients and communities
  • Attend and participate in planning-related public engagement projects, including open houses, pop-ups, surveys, and other engagement strategies
  • Provide administrative assistance in the administration and implementation of Community Housing Improvement Programs (CHIP), Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Housing Programs, and other CDBG Grant Programs
  • Develop grant summaries or assist in preparing grant applications for clients
  • Provide support for and work closely with the Grant Program Administrator to ensure grant compliance, completeness, and accuracy in satisfying guidelines and regulations governing a grant program and individual projects
