About The Position

This position is responsible for conducting outreach and education and will serve as a subject matter expert on teen driver safety, occupant protection and child passenger safety, motorcycle safety, bicycle and pedestrian safety, impaired driving, distracted driving, and other driver safety initiatives. The ideal candidate for this position is one who is very comfortable with public speaking, has experience educating teens and a variety of other audiences and is a self-motivated, analytical, well-spoken, independent thinker. This position is responsible for presenting and training at safety events and high schools around the state, and will identify, organize, and conduct educational outreach activities and coordinate grants related to these events. This position is responsible for: researching, analyzing, and compiling data for reports; writing, editing and developing educational materials; creating and updating outreach materials to include language translation, and performs other duties as required.

  • The position you are applying for is subject to a Level 2 background check, along with Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) clearance, to include a fingerprint-based check of the criminal records of the FBI, as a condition of employment pursuant to Chapter 110.1127, 435 and 943, Florida Statutes.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have and maintain a valid driver’s license in good standing. This means there can be no cancellations, suspensions, or revocations for a minimum of three years prior to employment and for the duration of employment. There can be no more than three chargeable crashes or any violation of Chapter 316, Florida Statutes, during any consecutive three-year period prior to and throughout employment.
  • This will position will require Frequent Travel (consecutive days/overnight and some weekends), for which the selected applicant will either earn leave compensation or be allowed to offset.

  • Knowledge of federal and state laws related to traffic safety.
  • Bilingual (speak, read, and write another language).
