About The Position

We are seeking a highly organized Planner/Scheduler to oversee all purchasing functions, ensuring material availability and aligning purchasing with production requirements. The ideal candidate will secure cost-effective, high-quality parts through supplier negotiations and implement strategies to minimize lead times while optimizing supplier performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of purchasing experience, ideally in a manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings, flow charts, and Bill of Materials.
  • Hands-on experience with MRP/ERP systems.
  • Strong supplier management skills, including quoting, order processing, and performance tracking.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and internet applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • APICS or CPM coursework/certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all purchasing functions to maintain material availability.
  • Secure cost-effective, high-quality parts through supplier negotiations.
  • Partner with internal teams to align purchasing with production requirements.
  • Place orders for materials and supplies based on production schedules and instructions.
  • Implement strategies to minimize lead times and optimize supplier performance.
  • Monitor daily MRP exception reports, purchase order statuses, and action lists; take corrective measures as needed.
  • Ensure timely delivery of goods to meet manufacturing timelines.
  • Keep purchasing records and system data accurate and up to date.
  • Address and resolve supplier-related issues promptly.
  • Conduct vendor reviews to evaluate pricing, inventory levels, and process improvements for cost savings.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies on purchase orders and contracts.
  • Analyze market trends and delivery systems to anticipate material needs.
  • Handle vendor disputes and claims in accordance with company standards.
  • Prepare requisitions, approve, and issue purchase orders under established policies and negotiated terms.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
