About The Position

At Orchid Orthopedic Solutions, we are a contract manufacturer of orthopedic devices, focused on implants, instruments, and groundbreaking technologies for markets including joint reconstruction, spine, trauma, sports medicine, extremities, and dental. Our 85,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Bridgeport, MI, specializes in cutting tools like burs, pins, screws, drills, reamers, and saw blades, meeting high quality standards for implants and instruments. The Planner/Scheduler is responsible for determining what and when products are produced, tracking production numbers, anticipating problems affecting the production schedule, and ensuring timely delivery to customers. This role also manages customer order entry and scheduling, maintains Kanban and Finished Goods inventory levels, and collaborates with the production team to ensure the schedule is followed. Communication with customers regarding order status is also a key part of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and manages orderly executable detailed manufacturing plans in support of customer orders, vendor managed orders and customer supply agreements.
  • Delivers, manages, and maintains viable production plans/schedules for shop floor.
  • Proactively identifies job order misses impacting customer delivery and works out solutions with customer account specialist.
  • Works with purchasing to ensure sub-supplier schedules are met.
  • Manage job creation and release of jobs to shop floor.
  • Maintains due dates of open shop orders
  • Reconcile component shortages; communicate material shortages to purchasing, and assist in identifying and resolving production problems
  • Redefines manufacturing schedule when changes are required
  • Manages engineering changes relating to manufacturing plans
  • Works closely with appropriate individuals to identify and resolve potential issues which may negatively impact production or delivery timeliness.
  • Maintains data integrity in ERP and other information tracking programs.
  • Identifies product and system flow improvements to eliminate waste.
  • Works closely with purchasing to verify delivery of order with suppliers.
  • Communicates priorities for processing workflow among departments to ensure timely performance to goals.
  • Participates in departmental projects, meetings, and reporting and analysis of data reported.
  • Leads and provides direction to customer account/order entry personnel regarding lead time and capacity capability.
  • Reviews purchase orders in acknowledgement queue, material availability, and routings to provide proper lead time to the customer.
