About The Position

WD is looking for a self-motivated individual to join our fast-paced Platforms Products operations organization. As an OEM Planner, you will be responsible for coordinating and planning detailed material procurement activity for production bill-of-materials items that are critical to meeting customer contract requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Industrial Engineering, Supply chain and Operations or related field
  • Experience with Production Operations and Supply Chain Planning
  • Knowledge of Product Lifecycle process from inception through end-of-support
  • Experience with electronics manufacturing bill-of-materials, component detail and approved vendor lists
  • Experience with cross-functional team communications, interactions, and participation - a team player
  • Experience working with Procurement teams in development and sustaining product lifecycle phases
  • Advanced experience working with Microsoft Excel functions and graphing tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated, critical thinker - ability to work independently with general direction to accomplish tasks

  • Experience working with contract manufacturing
  • Experience with PowerBI reporting and analytics tools

Responsibilities

  • Receive weekly Material Resource Planning output from our contract manufacturer's Procurement team.
  • Complete an analysis against Western Digital Production Forecast on the coverage per the OEM Contract Terms.
  • Publish weekly reporting on Inventory Flexibility per the OEM contract terms metrics.
  • Provide analysis on consumption and holdings/ Inventory turns and aging.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings for Change Management to understand the impact to change and possible Excess and Obsolescence risk.
  • Perform Waterfall analysis on supply of Customer Unique or Customer managed parts.
  • Publish Monthly Excess and Obsolescence reporting against Western Digital Production Forecast.
  • Support Procurement with Flexibility analysis when incurring Purchase Price Variance charges to Customer (Example: Additional upside demand or Non-Cancellable, Non-Refundable charges due to changes in demand forecast).
  • Coordinate with procurement and manufacturing operations to ensure the continuity of supply.
  • OEM Customer Communications: (Example: Receive and respond to queries on Supply chain management and Notify Customer of any significant changes to Unique parts definition or Lead times).
  • Attend weekly Core Team meetings as supply-chain representative.
