Planner Plant Maintenance
About The Position
The Role: This is a high‑impact leadership opportunity for a results‑driven maintenance professional who thrives in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. In this role, you’ll lead a talented team of Maintenance Group Leaders while driving the performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of critical plant equipment and facilities. You’ll play a key role in keeping operations running at peak efficiency—combining hands‑on technical insight with people leadership and strategic problem‑solving—while working within GM’s industry‑leading maintenance systems. Requirements
- Previous leadership/supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
- 5+ years of experience within high-volume manufacturing environment
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence
- Ability to interpret technical documentation (schematics, blueprints, machine manuals)
Nice To Haves
- B.S. in Engineering (other technical disciplines may be considered if: 5+ Years direct technical knowledge & experience in manufacturing industry)
- Working knowledge of cost counsel activities
- Prior Manufacturing Engineering or Maintenance assignment & working relationship with IUE and Union employees
- Familiarity with GM Global Manufacturing System (GMS) and Lean Manufacturing principles
Responsibilities
- Responsible for preventative maintenance and diagnosis of equipment malfunctions
- Recommends solutions to problems, and meets schedule and quality requirements in addition to the following responsibilities.
- Complies with the terms of local and national labor agreements
- Implements divisional and corporate policies
- Implements safety and good housekeeping practices
- Frequent contact and collaboration with others outside of the work group
- Responsible for the effective use of personnel, material and equipment
- Participates in the selection of new employees
- Trains, develops and evaluates employees
- Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job and/or project
- Leads technical guidance for complex and unusual plant operations or projects
- Assists in the development of budgets and forecasts within assigned area
- Obtains a deep knowledge and ability to implement GMS principles
