Job overview and responsibilities Planner - Aircraft Tooling drives the development, procurement, and strategic allocation of all aircraft tooling to meet United’s operational demands and schedules, while taking full ownership of tooling planning efforts for designated fleet(s) and tooling families. Establishes and enforces standard tooling requirements for each fleet type and mission, and actively maintains comprehensive inventories of non-standard tools requested by stations. Leads tooling logistics systemwide and directly coordinates all tool movement operations. Builds and strengthen partnerships with customers (station toolrooms) and vendors to cultivate ongoing relationships. Champions continuous improvement and cost savings initiatives, delivering measurable results in aircraft tooling efficiency and effectiveness. Work closely with Tooling Long-term Planning group to assess tooling requirements at each station based on fleet type and maintenance missions to ensure tooling availability and minimize related OOS events Send Request for Quote (RFQ) to evaluate and negotiate price points / lead times and sense of urgency for purchase from a multitude of external tool vendors to maintain target service levels for tool requests Responsible for the assignment of Property Control (PC) numbers and establish asset tracking requirements ensuring that receipt to bin times on new tools meet targets Collaborate with Line / Base maintenance operations to manage the tooling system distribution using SCEPTRE/eTIPS; provide OSV and line maintenance with required specialized tooling, and review surplus and spare tooling stock on a continual basis to minimize excessive inventory Provide special project support as assigned. Initiate and execute processes and application improvements, training and other activities to improve the productivity of the Company's tooling assets Evaluate current tooling footprint against potential expansion plans to identify allocation opportunities based on thorough analytical research in partnership with the other tooling stakeholders. Support QA / QC audits and perform periodic tooling audits through-out operation
