About The Position

Creative Dining Services at Delta College is seeking a part time Pizza/Deli Cook. This position is essential in delivering high-quality, freshly prepared food items that meet customer expectations and uphold the establishment's standards. This role involves preparing a variety of pizza and deli menu items efficiently while maintaining strict adherence to food safety and sanitation guidelines. The successful candidate will contribute to a positive customer experience by ensuring timely order fulfillment and consistent product quality. Collaboration with team members to maintain a clean and organized work environment is also a key aspect of this role. Ultimately, this position supports the overall success of the food service operation by combining culinary skills with excellent time management and customer service. Standard hours of operation: Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. No Nights or Weekends!!

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a food preparation or cooking role, preferably in a pizza or deli environment.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in food safety or ServSafe certification.
  • Experience operating commercial kitchen equipment such as ovens, slicers, and mixers.
  • Familiarity with inventory management and stock rotation practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced food service environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook pizza and deli items according to established recipes and quality standards.
  • Ensure all food preparation areas are clean, sanitized, and organized in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Manage inventory of ingredients and supplies, notifying management when stock levels are low.
  • Assist in receiving and storing deliveries, checking for quality and proper storage conditions.
  • Collaborate with team members to fulfill customer orders promptly and accurately.
  • Maintain equipment and kitchen tools in good working condition and report any malfunctions.
  • Follow all food safety guidelines, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of food products.
