About The Position

Established in 1988 in Watkinsville, Georgia, IMI has over 30 years of success in the Industrial construction industry. We have three satellite offices in Augusta, Covington, and Winder, GA. IMI supports manufacturers throughout most of the Southeast and we are expanding rapidly; big enough to have all the necessary resources, but small enough to give genuinely helpful personalized attention to everyone who puts their trust in us. IMI is seeking a full-time experienced Piping Project Manager local to the upstate, SC area. The Piping Project Manager will oversee industrial piping projects from planning to completion. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical knowledge of piping systems, the ability to perform accurate take-offs, and the communication skills needed to work effectively with customers, field leadership, and internal teams. Where necessary and applicable, coordinate and/or assist in the duties below:

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or 3-5 years of experience in industrial piping project management or supervision is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of piping systems, materials, and installation processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings including P&IDs.
  • Proficiency in scheduling, budgeting, and project documentation.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and solve problems quickly.
  • Strong commitment to safety and quality.
  • Experience in managing piping crews in industrial settings.
  • Computer experience, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Excel, Project, Outlook, and project management software.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in fabrication, welding procedures, and field installation are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage piping projects from pre-construction through closeout.
  • Perform detailed material take-offs and interpret P&IDs, isometrics, and other technical drawings.
  • Coordinate with customers, general contractors, vendors, and internal departments.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and manpower plans.
  • Identify and resolve project issues, design conflicts, or material constraints.
  • Lead and support field teams, including Foreman and General Foreman.
  • Ensure all work meets company and client safety, quality, and performance standards.
  • Prepare and track change orders, RFI documentation, and project reporting.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships through clear and proactive communication.
