About The Position

We are seeking a highly experienced Piping Designer to support engineering and design efforts across complex industrial projects. The ideal candidate has a strong background in piping design within manufacturing, chemical, food & beverage, or oil & gas facilities, with the ability to independently develop piping layouts, support engineering teams, and deliver high-quality construction packages.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of piping design experience in industrial facilities (manufacturing, chemical, oil & gas, food & beverage, or related).
  • Associate degree or technical certification in drafting/design preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Demonstrated experience developing construction-ready piping design packages.
  • Strong understanding of piping design principles, industrial equipment, and process systems.
  • Proficiency in industry design software (AutoCAD, CADWorx, Plant 3D, E3D, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards: ASME B31.3 / B31.1, API, NFPA, and sanitary design standards where applicable.
  • Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail with a focus on quality and constructability.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in brownfield/retrofit conditions and navigating congested environments.
  • Experience supporting FEL, detailed design, and EPC-style projects.
  • Knowledge of skid-based systems, utility piping, and process equipment layouts.
  • Experience interpreting laser scan data and integrating point clouds into 3D models.

Responsibilities

  • Develop 2D and 3D piping designs, including general arrangements, plans, sections, and isometrics.
  • Create piping models aligned with process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Route piping systems considering safety, constructability, operations, maintenance, and accessibility.
  • Select pipe materials, valve types, fittings, and specialty items based on project specifications and industry standards.
  • Produce and finalize deliverables such as equipment layouts, line lists, tie-in details, and bill of materials.
  • Work closely with mechanical, process, structural, electrical, and instrumentation teams to coordinate designs.
  • Assist in field verification, site walks, laser scans, and as-built documentation.
  • Support construction teams with design clarifications, RFIs, and redline updates.
  • Ensure designs comply with project specifications, codes, and client standards (ASME, API, ANSI, USDA/FDA for F&B, etc.).
  • Develop piping models using tools such as AutoCAD Plant 3D, CADWorx, SmartPlant3D (SP3D), or similar platforms.
  • Work with Navisworks for clash detection, model reviews, and coordination with multi-discipline teams.
  • Organize drawings and deliverables in alignment with project document control requirements.
